This past weekend was our annual street fair on Post Avenue in the Village of Westbury. The weather was giving us a hard time as we struggled with whether or not to move it to Sunday or keep it on its original day of Saturday as the early Saturday morning showers passed through. We decided ( based on the forecast for the rest of Saturday ) to make a run for it and we are glad we did, as the persistent clouds broke in the afternoon and the crowds grew throughout the day making it one of the best attended street fairs we have ever had! Considering other events in Oyster Bay and Garden City were happening simultaneously, the crowd we had was impressive. The new addition of a bandstand on the south end featuring bands from noon to 430pm, the expanded food court, and the live bands playing up at the Space at Westbury made each section of the fair alive and vibrant! Many positive comments were relayed about all of that and the many vendors, the activities in the piazza with St. Brigids Church, and the local merchants coming out and adding to the excitement of the event. Many thanks go our to the Westbury BID board who worked hard manning the event and the BID table with the highly successful balloon bust raffle! Other thanks of course go to the Village of Westbury, The Westbury Fire Department, The Westbury Department of Public Works, out partners at Craft A Fair, the Space at Westbury, all of our vendors and merchants and of course those who attended to make the day a great one! We look forward to next years event being as great or greater than this one!
