On July 7th, 2016, NY State Governor Cuomo announced that the Village of Westbury would be the recipient of a $10 million dollar downtown revitalization initiative (DRI) grant for a downtown revitalization project after beating out 20 other towns on Long Island. We at the BID are thrilled with the news as we are excited to work with the Village and NY Department of State officials as the planning process is initiated and goes forward to bring the downtown of Westbury to the next level for its residents, property & business owners and visitors alike!
The Westbury BID already offers a number of programs available to business owners within the BID district to assist with promotion of and improvements to their business. With the assistance of the DRI grant, more opportunities will be available to businesses to take advantage of the existing programs and the possibility of new ones becoming available.
Watch for updates by mid to late 2017 once the process is expected to start to go forth after a series of planning meetings and committees are assembled and meet to discuss and approve ideas. Note to investors: You may want to start giving Westbury a look as things are going to be cooking real soon !
